Sounds of Science 2022

Sounds of science   |
A stunning event mixing music and sciences

Last Thursday 23rd June 2022, the second edition of our event "Sounds of Science" took place at Národní dům na Vinohradech. Organized by the French Embassy in the Czech Republic and the French Institute in Prague, the evening offered us a stunning time mixing music and sciences.

Brilliant scientific lectures have been given by three leading French scientists brought together in Prague for the occassion : Jean-Marie Lehn (Nobel Prize in Chemistry 1987), Jean Tirole (Nobel Prize in Economy 2014) and Thomas Ebbesen (Kavli Prize for Nanoscience 2014). They presetend the latest scientific concepts in their respective disciplines in a very interesting and accessible way for the general public.

This scientific programme has been complemented by a musical performance by the renowned French pianist, composer and musicologist Karol Beffa : he especially offered us an outstanding improvised piano accompaniment during the screening of a 1920 silent movie by René Clair, "Paris qui dort/ The Crazy Ray".

It was an honour to have such french figures among us! We thank Daniel Stach (Česká televize) for moderating, to the public for attending and to the partners for supporting us.
